Killer story....?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ok...for my english cl... i have to write a story like something Edgar Allan Poe would write (for you who don't know him, he had a HORRIBLE life (all the women he loved died of tuberculosis [cough up blood, and keep doing it, and then die {that's why he wrote the "Mask of the Red Death"}] and he married his 12-year-old cousin Virginia, got many foul nicknames- like Tomahawk Man for being cruel while working for a newspaper, he drunk alot (basically jinxing himself) and never got much money (the only money he ever made off his writing was from the Raven-and he made 14.00). the story I have to write has to have themes such as obsession...premature burial, the people go insane (at least one), fear, sadness...and other things that would fit into a plot like this. I just want ideas for a plot for this story...i can't think of anything...thanks!!!
