He said i love you but did he mean it read on for details..?

ok so me and my boyfriend have been together for four months we knew eachother as friends before we are both 23, we have had our problems arguing about a particular ex friend with benefit of his who he continued a platonic relationship with once we got together, he has now stopped speaking to her as she became flirtatious again and i found out. He has had one other gf three yrs ago for 4 yrs she ended it with him, he became a player hence why i was insecure about the ex special friend. but on a particuarly drunken night for both of us last week we were arguing and he asked me why i was so insecure and i stupidly said for the first time may i add.. it was because i was completely in love with him the arguement tailed off and we went to sleep. The next day i pretended that i had no idea what we were arguing about or what was said and we agreed it was just too much alchohol. but this weekend we were just cuddling in the morning and he was staring at me i asked him wat he was staring at and he said i love you, now i said it back and it was a fantastic feeling but i cant help but think he's said it cos he thinks i need to hear it? would he of said it and not meant it even though as far as he knows i dont remember saying it first??
