What is the best heating option for a big old house.?

I need to know what everyone's opinion is on heating my new house. It does not currently have a working heating source. It use to have a water boiler and cast iron heater (thingys)( I know makes me sound so smart and all knowing). We are gutting the house and starting over so we can do anything from duct work, in floor heat, vents, etc. Please give me your thoughts. Oh, in case it makes a difference the house is real big with a full basement, 7 room main floor and 7 room 2nd floor. I do not know the square footage but it is not a small house.
